ABSTRACT

Cerebral small vessel disease is common in elderly patients, and its main pathological change is small vessel dysfunction. In addition to common stroke events, the clinical manifestations can also be manifested as cognitive dysfunction. The intestinal flora of elderly patients with small vascular disease often changes, and the relevant altered metabolites can participate in the occurrence and development of small vascular disease through inflammatory response, immune response and changes in blood brain barrier permeability.Understanding the research progress of intestinal flora and its metabolites in small vascular disease can provide theoretical basis for the intervention of intestinal flora in patients with small vascular disease.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analysis the effect of caffeine citrate on pulmonary function, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)and insulin like growth factor -1 (IGF-1) in the apnea syndrome rats. Methods 80 male Wistar rats were selected, 20 were randomly selected to be the control group, the rest of the rats were replicated of apnea syndrome model. The rats were randomly divided into model group, experiment group and positive drug group, 20 of each group. The experimental group was given caffeine citrate injection of 5 mg/kg intraperitoneal injection, the positive drug group was given intraperitoneal injection of aminophylline 3 mg/kg, the model group was given intraperitoneal injection of normal saline, once a day, continuously for 1 week.Pulmonary function, serum VEGF, IGF-1 levels and sleep apnea were compared after the experiment.ResuIts Compared with the positive drug group, the related indexes of pulmonary function of the experimental group increased significantly ( P<0.05 ) .Serum VEGF levels decreased significantly (P<0.05).The serum IGF-1 level increased significantly (P<0.05).The sleep apnea index decreased significantly during the period of NREM and REM.(P<0.05).ConcIusion Caffeine citrate can improve apnea syndrome rats lung function, reduce the serum VEGF level, promote the formation of serum IGF-1, reduce the sleep apnea index.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the correlation between long time systolic blood pressure variability(SBPV)and short time SBPV in aged population.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 752 subjects aged ≥60 years of Kailuan Group who took part in 2006-2007, 2008-2009, 2010-2011 and 2012-2013 health examination were included by cluster sampling method.Long time SBPV was calculated by standard deviation of mean systolic blood pressure measured in 2006-2007, 2008-2009, 2010-2011 and 2012-2013, standard deviation represents short time systolic blood pressure which is derived from 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. The observation population was divided into three groups according to the third tertiles of the time systolic blood pressure variability: the first point(<9.09 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa)), second point (≥9.09 mmHg, and <14.29 mmHg), and third point (≥14.29 mmHg). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the correlation between long time systolic blood pressure variability and short time systolic blood pressure.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>(1) The participants' age were (67.0±5.7) years old (284 women). (2) The 24 hours and daytime SSD were (14.7±4.0) mmHg, (14.7±3.5) mmHg, (15.7±4.4) mmHg (P=0.010) and (14.1±4.4) mmHg, (14.2±3.5) mmHg and (15.4±4.6) mmHg (P<0.001) according to the tertiles of long time systolic blood pressure variability, respectively, nighttime SSD were (12.0±4.4) mmHg, (11.8±4.8) mmHg and (11.9±4.9) mmHg (P=0.900). (3) Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the tertiles of long time SSD was the risk factor for increasing daytime SSD>14.00 mmHg (OR=1.51, 95%CI: 1.03-2.23, P=0.037), but not a risk factor for increasing 24 hours SSD>14.41 mmHg (OR=1.10, 95%CI: 0.75-1.61, P=0.639) and nighttime SSD>11.11 mmHg (OR=0.98, 95%CI: 0.67-1.42, P=0.899).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Increased long time SBPV is a risk factor for increasing daytime SBPV.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective:To determine the relationship among tumor malignancy, invasion, and plasma D-dimer (DD) levels via a retrospective analysis of the correlation between preoperative plasma DD levels and postoperative pathology parameters in esophageal cancer patients. Methods:A total of 101 esophageal cancer patients without coagulation among preoperative plasma DD levels and postoperative pathology parameters in esophageal cancer patients who underwent radical operation between January 2009 to April 2010 were enrolled. The preoperative plasma DD levels, postoperative pathology T, N Grade, number of metastatic lymph nodes, tumor posi-tion, tumor length, and TNM stage were recorded. A statistic analysis of the above parameters was performed to reveal the correlation between plasma DD levels and tumor pathology features. Results:Preoperative plasma DD level has no correlation with Grade and tu-mor length, but shows positive correlation with pathology T, N status, and TNM stage, and has strong positive correlation with numbers of metastatic nodes. In addition, lower-third thoracic esophageal cancer patients have higher DD level than middle-third thoracic cases. Conclusion:Plasma DD level has a positive correlation with T stage, N stage, TNM stage, and number of positive lymph nodes. It also has important clinical significance.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the efficacy and safety of the intrapleural injection of nedaplatin combined with recombinant hu-man endostatin (Endostar) in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Methods:Seventy patients diagnosed with NSCLC with malignant pleural effusion were treated by intrapleural injection. The subjects were divid-ed into two groups, as follows: 35 cases were injected with nedaplatin and Endostar (the treatment group) and 35 cases were injected with nedaplatin only (the control group). One month after the treatment, the clinical efficacy and toxicity were evaluated. The clinical ef-ficacy, quality of life, and toxic reaction were compared between the two groups. Results: The short-term clinical efficacy rate of the treatment group was 74.28%, whereas that of the control group was 48.57%, and the difference between the two groups was significant (P0.05). Conclusion: The efficacy of the intrapleural injection of recombinant human endostatin combined with nedaplatin is superior to that of cisplatin alone in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion, without increasing chemotherapeutic toxicity.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the method of primary culture for endometriotic cells and to find out the differences in morphological manifestations among endometriotic cells and eutopic endometrial cells sampled from patients with endometriosis and endometriosis-free women. METHODS: Endometriotic and eutopic endometrial cells were cultured by modified method of primary culture. The endometriotic cell types were observed and differentiated under optical and electron microscopes. RESULTS: The success rates for culture of eutopic endometrial cells from endometriosis-free women and patients with endometriosis were 91.67% and 93.75% respectively. The success rate for culture of endometriotic cells was 75.00%. The size of endometriotic glandular cells was similar to those of eutopic endometrial glandular cells from endometriosis-free women and patients with endometriosis. The chromatin was manifold and the nucleus was augmented in the endometriotic glandular cells. The endometriotic stromal cells were smaller than the eutopic endometrial stromal cells from endometriosis-free women and patients with endometriosis. Many tiny villi and protuberances on plasma membrane could be seen in the endometriotic stromal cells. CONCLUSION: The success rate for culture of endometriotic cells can be elevated through improving the method of primary culture. The ultrastructures of endometriotic glandular and stromal cells are obviously different from those of eutopic endometrial glandular and stromal cells from endometriosis-free women and patients with endometriosis.
